Live or Die? Choose Wisely.

Does anyone else see the absurdity in what we demand that Hamas do? Why are we demanding that Hamas "disarm" prior to any recognition of their government, all the while Fatah has always maintained their "military wing" even while holding the primary power base? We know that Hamas will never do it, so why even ask? And don't tell me it is about principal, because we allowed Fatah to maintain an open military wing and a terror group that worked hand-in-hand with very little protest. What makes Hamas so different? When the election smoke clears, Hamas and Fatah, while bitter rivals, are no different. Fatah is NOT a "moderate" regime. I hardly call a group that openly calls for the murdering of Jews moderate. More importantly though, at the end of the day, we'll let Hamas keep their weapons, they will remain in power, and we will still tuck our tails and run from Judea and Samaria. They know this and we know this. So why do we demand things that we have no intention of sticking to? And because we will no doubt back down as usual, Hamas' spectacular election sweep is only a small token of what will come. The next election will be far greater for them. They will thumb their noses at our disarmament demands, and they will continue on the path to forced concessions via terror. We are in a dire situation only because we have lost the will to survive. We are so infatuated with the concept of global acceptance that we have thrown all principal and Jewish pride out the door to be replaced with nothing. The world still calls us an "apartheid regime", and the world still overwhelming supports the Palestinians. Why? Because they don't like us, and they never have. Our history shows this, yet we pretend as though the last 2000 years of persecution never happened. We continue down the path to national suicide, and we have nothing to show for it except grieving Jewish mothers and the continued role as the scapegoat for the world's problems. What shall be the threshold of our complacence? Will it be when we return to the pre-1967 borders? Will it come after continued suicide bombings and acts of terror? Must Tel-Aviv come under siege before we finally locate the will to survive? I fear the day when the flag of Islamofacism flies over Haifa may not be that far away. Nothing in our current weak Jewish leadership could possibly allow me to draw any other conclusion. Live or die, that is our only choice.

The choice needs to be life, but everyone cares too much about the international community and their opinon to make the right choices.

Israel has fought for too long to run away with her tail between her legs now, we just have the wrong people in, or standing for government.

Hamas is a success amongst the palestinians, but who do we have that will stand against the terrorists and say No?

We have let the palestinian issue rise to legitimisy, now we need to deal with it before we pay the ultimate price.

I don't have an answer, and neither do the politicians.

I agree bro. I am at a loss. The Right Wing parties lack the support to be so much as a recognizable opposition, and I scratch my head as to what we should do.

Some people can shake it off and say, oh well, maybe the next election... but how can we possibly think this when the bodies of Jewish victims of terror stack ever deeper.

For every moment that the Left (or the "middle" as Kadima likes to claim) is in power, we grow further away from the ability to trun back.

We undoubtedly will turn back and kick ourselves at some point, but that won't bring back our dead.

I am at a loss really.

You've raised some great points, and have changed my mind on one fundamental issue: Hamas vs Fatah. I was one who reasoned that Fatah was much better to deal with, simply because they were willing to recognize Israel. But, in the end, they still support the slaughter of Jews, and the demise of Israel.
What can we do? Nothing, but wait on HaShem. Israel has made the hole too deep.

I am happy to hear that the situation is so dire in your illegal Zionist entity. That is the way it ought to be for thieves and invaders. They should always have to live on the edge, to experience the consequences of their crimes.

Why is killing Jews automatically such a horrible thing? Since this is a war, aren't all the armed adult Jewish invaders in Palestine valid targets for the fedayeen? You act like it is some kind of a Hiterlian act to kill a machine-gun toting Jewish settler or an Jewish invader soldier in his tank. Granted, killing unarmed Jewish civilians inside the Green Line and all Jewish minors is immoral, but isn't it true that you bitch just as much about a soldier's death as for that of a 15 yr old girl? It's all just "killing Jews" in your mind, no?

robert,

Going by your hateful comment, it would seem to me you're not aware of basic facts in modern Israe's history. For example, there were about 600,000 Israeli Arabs in Palestine on the eve of the 1948 War for Independence.

Most of these either fled out of free will having been urged to do so by the surrounding Arab states so that they could, in turn, wipe out the Jews and the local Arabs could return "home". As you may or may not be aware, Israel won. Now, the Arab states decided overwhelmingly to bolster the refugee crisis by not allowing Israeli Arabs who had fled to settle within their territory.

Instead they've been using these Arabs as a spearhead in their efforts to anihilate Israel. They've failed to do so in all-out warfare. Now they've declared another war of attrision on Israel and their driving force is the fedayeen, as you correclty term them.

BTW: There was no such thing as a "palestinian" until the first aliya. As a result of Jews returning to their historic homeland(Palestine in ancient Roman terminology) they were called "Palestinians." Hence the entire Arab world hated the Palestinian Jews and comitted to the destruction of the yet-to-be-born state of Israel.

To be perfectly honest, I obviously disagree with what you say but will not contradict my values as a Jew and a human being by bitching right back at you. I just think you ought to see our side of the conflict before making any conclusions.

In hope, Eitan.

p.s. If you're interested in literature which would be worth you time feel free to contact me @ enigman81@hotmail.com Hatred will not help; it will only hurt both people like you and those like myself.

You expect soldiers to die, but you never enjoy seeing people die. With that being said, the biggest crime is the terrorists attacking and killing women and children (unarmed).

I hate the enemy for making us kill them in self-defense as much as I hate them for killing us. Compassion for the dead is good trait to have, something you obviously lack.

Your comments are certainly not anything that I wouldn't expect from you. You're simply a racist, and honestly you don't have a leg to stand on. If you actually had something creative to say, I might at least find your comment intruiging, but unfortunately it was anything but.

The value of a single fact outweighs the cost of a hundred opinions.

Personally I think that Hashem is teaching us a lesson now. The "leader upstairs" is in charge, and the human ones down here are just shlichim.

Then again, I could be full of hot air! ;)

I feel you Tovya, the fact that the Jews of Israel are working so hard to please the world governments if futile and deadly. Because they will never accept a Jewish state period. THe other issue is lack f PR on the Jewish side. We should conteract these lies by the truth instead of being quiet. Make more noise is what we should do instead of allowing the world to force US to concede. They wouldn't.
This was another intriguing post. And you are right Eitan Hate does not help..

We need better propaganda. That's what we need. Not the victim kind of propaganda, like the Palestinians churn out, but good old-fashioned propaganda of heroic proportions, the kind that will appeal to the old-fashioned sense of justice in everybody, even the lefties. The question is: how to accomplish this kind of a makeover?

I was thinking the same thing: When is Israel going to draw the line when it comes to the Palestinians? How much is Israel willing to give up before it finally realizes that the Palestinians have no interest in peace whatsoever?

I can't even begin to tell you how mad it makes me that a lot of people in Israel are willing to give up parts of Yerushalayim for a "peace" with people who manipulated democracy to legitimize their terrorism against Jews. The Palestinians haven't changed and probably never will.

I think pop culture as a venue is one way. But only one, and I have yet to see a Jewish/Israeli director who would be willing to make an unequivocally pro-Israeli movie or an Israeli singer who'd be both universally accessible and 100% pro-Israel. Many people, I think, don't know much about Israel except for what makes the front pages, and by that I mean war-related events. Not many people know about Israel's culture, scientific, and technological achievements... I'm surprised that Jewish philanthropists haven't found a way of emphasizing these successes ubuiquitously.

irina - it is career suicide here in Israel to be right wing. There are artists and singers who are "right wing" at home, but do not publicize their views because they are afraid of the repercussions. (I heard this in an interview with Aryeh Zilber, one of the few secular, right wing performers. He said that other performers would come up to him and say that they agreed with him but were afraid to come out publicly). The left elite control the media, and are arbiters of what is "in" and "out".

About your other point, Israel21C is a good web site focussing on Israel's scientific and technological advances - no politics, just good news from this part of our country.

America is no different when it comes to the left and the entertainment industry. There are plenty of pro-Israel actors in Hollywood, but if they speak out, they get slaughtered.

Therefore most of them just remain silent.

Honestly I think a lot of people in the world understand the problems of Israel and are sympathetic, but as in times past, people are afraid to break the mold and speak out.

It has become politically correct to be a terrorist hugger and an Israel basher.

This goy says the phrase "never again" is about gone from little Israel. I saw it first when the rock-throwers were hit with rubber bullets instead of being shot in the legs with real bullets. It is always the simple things that show the larger picture. 3 years out of the camps and muslims came at you folks with the same mentality of extermination the gestapo had. It has not let up and your will to fight is about gone. Iran won't launch nuke missles on Israel, but they will make suitcase nukes and homicide bombers will set them off in Tel Aviv. How can a goy sort of guy see this and so many Jews don't?
